The 2024 election is right around the corner.  It is important for the future of our nation.  We should all vote and take it seriously.  But, as Christians, we must remind ourselves that no politician, no political party, and no person will be our savior.  That position is forever filled by Jesus.  So, how should we approach this election?

I am reminded of the story of the chicken and the pig having breakfast.  The chicken comments how wonderful it is to have a breakfast of bacon and eggs.  The pig responds, “it is wonderful for you.  For you, breakfast means a contribution.  For me, breakfast is a commitment.”

As Christians, we must be like a pig when it comes to God.  And, like a chicken when it comes to politics.  That is, we must be willing to give God our whole being.  We surrender our lives to Him.  We recognize that He is the giver of all life, and we honor Him by our deep-rooted commitment to Him.  When it comes to the political life of our country, we need to be like the chicken…INVOLVED.  We need to pay attention, donate our time and money, and work for the betterment of our nation.  We do not, however, give to any candidates our heart, our soul, or our being.  Those are reserved for God.

No matter which party wins, or which candidate sits in the oval office, Jesus is still on the throne.  He is still the one who controls our destiny, our eternity, and our lives.

I pray hard for our country during this time.  We are divided, filled with fear, and world peace is fragile.  We must pray not only for our country but for our world.  We must always be willing to be involved, to learn, and to take steps to better our world for our fellow human beings.  We must also recognize that our world will not be a better place until we allow God to influence who we are and how we are living.

We  will be hosting elections at the Praise and Worship Center on November 5, 2024.  It is an honor for us to do so.  It is right that we welcome everyone into our church so they can perform the sacred duty of casting their ballot.  As citizens come to PWC, I will be praying for them.  I will pray that they are listening deep in their hearts to the voice of God and following His will.  We will treat each person with respect and hospitality.  Whether they vote the same way as I do or not, we will honor their involvement in the process.  And for those who have committed themselves to a political party instead of to God, we will pray for them.  We will pray that all false Gods are brought to their knees, and that the Lord and God of all creation will truly bless the United States of America.

Such a great perspective about this election and all politics! Thank you!
What a different world it would be if everyone could embrace this perspective and be committed to the promise we have in Jesus above all else. 🙏
