The Greatest Love
When you’ve walked through deep grief and constant change, you guard your heart differently—you feel everything more deeply.
Five years ago, as my Jimmy took his last breath, a huge piece of me went with him. But at that moment, a peace washed over me that I couldn’t name. I clearly heard Jesus’ whisper: “Keep your eyes focused on Me, and I will get you through.” Those words became my anchor, reminding me that even in the darkest moments, His love sustains, His presence guides, and I can always find rest at the foot of the cross.
Losing Jimmy changed the way I see everything—including how I see the world around me. This world feels heavy at times. My heart aches as I watch the division, noise, and endless striving to be heard or seen. Fear and pride seem to echo louder than ever, and somewhere along the way, we’ve forgotten what unites us: LOVE.
Through Scripture, we see Jesus teach, heal, and perform miracles. But what stands out most is how He loves. He doesn’t affirm opinions or justify actions—He embraces people. The sinner, the outcast, the brokenhearted—all are met with compassion, kindness, and grace. Jesus is love in action. When we follow His lead, we reflect His heart, we show the world Jesus, and we become bringers of hope.
As believers, we are called to be His hands and feet, sharing the love story He wrote for us. To have an eternal impact, we must step back from our own filters—our pain, opinions, and experiences—and ask Him to help us see others through His lens of unconditional love. Each day, I surrender and ask God to guide my steps, guard my thoughts, and help me simply love others the way He loves me.
This past week marked five years of living without my husband in this world. Each year, the anniversary is a mix of emotions, but it has also become a time to reflect—on the journey of grief, the ways God has sustained me, and the lessons I’ve learned about His love and faithfulness. In that time, I’ve discovered what it means to be a daughter of the King. I’ve felt the power of showing up for others, just as He has shown up for me through so many. I’ve learned the beauty of being His hands and feet, His heart in action, and I’ve never been more called and convinced to love others with intentionality.
As we approach February, a month focused on love, let’s turn to the perfect, sacrificial love of Jesus. His love transforms. His love unites. His love is…
John 15:12 reminds us: “Love one another as I have loved you.” When we reflect His heart, we create spaces of hope, healing, and connection. And in doing so, we discover the joy Jesus promises in John 15:11: “That My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
Five years ago, I didn’t know how I would survive this loss. But I have learned that love—His love—sustains. It carries, it heals, and it calls us to give it away. So, as we step into this month of love, let’s choose the greatest love of all. Because when we love like Jesus, we change the world, one heart at a time.
